As a woman, and a fellow household decision maker, I understand the struggles women face with juggling a job, a house, a spouse, a social life, and a strong desire to be fit and healthy. Even more, what if you have children??? Where can someone possibly find any more time in the day? As it is, you barely feel like you have time to wash your hair and do your makeup, right?
This New Year, make a resolution to be good to yourself. Make YOU a priority! Women have the tendency to put everyone else first – children, husband/spouse, family, friends, work, and so on. Realize that YOU being healthy and happy, will help you help others. Set some goals for yourself…for YOU time.
It’s time to set those goals for YOU. I’m sure you’ve heard it before, but this time, let’s put it to practice. Goals must be SMART – Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic, and Timely.
Specific = Who, what, where, when, why
= example – I will wake up 30 min early to make time to workout, meditate, walk, etc 3 times/week for 30 minutes.
Measurable = How much / how often
= example – 30 min, 3 times/week
Attainable = Can you achieve it? You can achieve any goal you set your mind to. Baby steps…that’s the key. Focus on day 1, not day 101. Focus on those 30 minutes, or the 3 times per week.
Realistic = Is it realistic? Can you really see yourself doing this? Are evenings better for you instead of mornings? What fits YOUR schedule best?
Timely = starting Jan 1st, starting Jan 10th…whatever works best for you. But pick a time to start, and do it…for YOU!
Trust me, your friends and family will thank you for it. Exercising will increase YOUR endorphins. Your endorphins make YOU happy. YOU will have more energy and happiness for those around you, that you are so dedicated to. YOU will be able to handle stress more effectively. YOU will have more energy. And most importantly, living a healthier lifestyle will enable YOU to be around for a longer life. A lifetime of health and wealth. Be good to YOU and make YOU a priority this New Year.
